The Museum of Literary Souls by John Connelly

This is a wonderful story. Very short, completely satisfying. It’s the first writing from John Connolly I’ve read. I was lucky enough to be present for a talk he gave about Crime Writing at the Sydney Writers’ Festival 2014. I was so impressed by his wide ranging comprehensive knowledge that I wanted to read his work. I’ve put a couple of his books on my To Be Read List, I think I’m in for a treat.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo

A bookish observation: Picking up a beautiful book is one of life’s great pleasures. A beautiful book feels well balanced as you hold it in your hands, the paper is pristine and smooth, the typography clean and well spaced. With the physical experience comes the emotional experience of hopeful expectation that this book contains something special. Something that makes a difference.
