SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW STUART'S ART
IN A WORLD OF MY OWN
" This painting for me represents one mans moment of escapism from the noisy and chaotic city - the colours of the sky represent all the colours the sky can be during one day - this represents the diluted time boundaries during his meditation." Stuart Hampton
SUMMER CAME TO ME
TIME WELL SPENT
"This painting for me is about everything that I hold dear in my life. Its about love, humility, respect for nature, the different levels of reality that exist (both actual and imaginary) and its about reaping the rewards from being a good minded person throught life (ie- flowers of the mind). The painting is also about Life-force and its beautiful power- I chose to paint a sunflower in full bloom because I wanted it to express that the guitar players life is in full bloom with all of his lifes achievements and experiences before him - and now is a time for him to reflect." ABOUT STUART HAMPTON
Stuart was born in Bury in Greater Manchester and lived in Heywood until he moved to central Manchester where he studied for a degree in psychology at university.
After university he spent some time in India visiting temples and staying on ashrams in the south. Upon returning to England, Stuart indulged his passion for the arts - and became well known in many circles of artists and musicians for his surreal approach to both art and music.
During his time in Manchester he became active in the music scene and gained a lot of interest from local press for his music. But Stuart always held a strong passion for the visual arts and painting and although he was painting during his time as a musician he felt that he wasn't devoting enough time to cultivate his works so decided to leave the city and move to Cornwall.
Of himself, Stuart says:
"I now spend a lot of time painting and trying to create images that speak messages of peace, understanding, humility and appreciation for love and nature."
Influenced by some of the great masters of painting such as Gauguin and more contemporary artists like Salvador Dali, Stuart tries to break down the borders of perception and reality and unite the imaginary with the real, creating powerful and provocative paintings.
